Know exactly what you're taking.

Scan your vitamins, supplements, gym products and baby products. BestTellMe adds up everything you take and checks every vitamin and mineral against the official EU and Irish safe limits. Red, amber or green, with the reason and the source.

Limits: EFSA (EU) and FSAI (Ireland), whichever is stricter. Example product, not a real brand.

One scan. Three lights. Always the reason.

Every light has a shape as well as a colour, so it's clear to everyone, including people who are colour-blind.

No flags

Within the safe limit, and nothing on our banned or unsuitable list. A strong dose that's within the limit is shown as fine, because it is.

Check

Near the top of a limit with everything you take, the same thing in two products, or something to ask your pharmacist about.

Red flag

Over a safe limit, not allowed in the EU, or not suitable for pregnancy, breastfeeding, the pill, or your baby's age. With what to do next.

Changes with you

  • Trying to conceive or pregnant. Folic acid and vitamin D checked against HSE advice; vitamin A, herbs and caffeine flagged for pregnancy.
  • Breastfeeding, the pill, perimenopause. The checks change with the stage you pick. St John's wort turns red if you're on the pill.
  • Gym. Pre-workouts checked for caffeine per day and in one go.
  • Baby Mode. Formula, baby food, drinks, drops and nappies checked for your baby's age: honey under 1, rice drinks under 4½, vitamin D drops.

No barcode? Photo the label.

Point your phone at the amounts table. BestTellMe reads it on your phone, you check every line against the pack, and it's scored like any other product. The photo never leaves your phone.

Where the limits come from

No hidden scores. Every result names its source, and every brand is checked by the same rules. No brand can pay to change a result.

EFSAThe European Food Safety Authority's safe upper levels for vitamins and minerals.
FSAIThe Food Safety Authority of Ireland's maximum safe levels for food supplements.
HSEIrish public health advice on folic acid, vitamin D, pregnancy and feeding babies.
EU lawBanned and restricted ingredients, authorised health claims and infant formula rules.

Questions

Is this medical advice?

No. BestTellMe compares what's on the label with published safety limits and public health advice. It never tells you how much to take. Always check with your pharmacist, GP or midwife before changing what you take, especially in pregnancy or for a baby.

Where does product information come from?

From Open Food Facts, a free public database of millions of products, and from your own label photos, which you check line by line. Community data can contain mistakes, so the app always asks you to compare it with your pack.

What happens to my information?

Your life stage, your supplements and your baby's age stay on your phone. We have no accounts and no server that holds them. When you scan, only the barcode is sent, to look the product up. If the app crashes, it sends an anonymous crash report with none of your details, and you can turn that off. Read the privacy policy.

Does it check medicines?

Not yet. If you take any medicine, ask your pharmacist before adding a supplement.

How do I cancel?

On iPhone: Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or period ends and you won't be charged again.
